GUIDELINES

[ Speaker Guidelines ]

In order to keep the time schedule at WATOC and Young WATOC, it is important to upload your presentation in advance - at least a day in advance to allow us to process the presentation file.

Uploading can be done using the link to a dedicated Dropbox folder that all speakers should have received by email. If this is not possible, speakers at main WATOC may visit the backstage room, located behind the stage of Hall A / the plenary lecture room. The backstage room has technical staff that will assist in uploading. Regardless of upload method, the technical staff in the backstage room can also assist letting speakers check for themselves how their presentation display at the venue.

Presentations should be in PDF or PowerPoint format and will be displayed using the latest versions of Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Office 365 on systems running the Windows operating system. Presentations in any other formats must be verified with the WATOC secretary (Erik Tellgren) before use. Presentations in the MacOS format keynote are possible in most sessions, but with some restrictions---again, verify with the WATOC secretary before relying on keynote.

The aspect ratio 16:9 is recommended. The venue provides a laser pointer.

Specific information for Young WATOC

Young WATOC presentations are 20 minutes, with 15 minutes reserved for the talk itself and 5 minutes reserved for questions.

Talks should be uploaded to the Dropbox folder by Friday, June 20. If it is not possible to upload the talk to the dedicated Dropbox folder, speakers may turn to the technician present at the Young WATOC lecture room to upload their talk well in advance of their session.

When uploading, use a file name of the form 'YoungWATOC_surname.pdf' or 'YoungWATOC_surname.pptx' depending on format.

Specific information for the parallel sessions

The parallel sessions all consist of four talks, where each talk is either an Invited Lecture or an Invited Communication. A list of all speakers in the respective category is available at
Speakers. All Invited Lectures are 25 minutes long, with 20 minutes reserved for the lecture itself and 5 minutes reserved for questions and discussion. All Invited Communications are 15 minutes long, with 12 minutes reserved for the lecture itself and 3 minutes reserved for questions and discussion. It is crucial to stay within the allocated time.

When uploading your presentation, use a file name of the form

'day_session_surname.pdf' or 'day_session_surname.pptx'

where 'day' is one of Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday, and 'session' is one of A1, B1, ..., E5. For example, if John Smith speaks in Session C2 on Tuesday, the file name would be 'Tuesday_C2_Smith.pdf'.

Specific information for the plenary sessions

Plenary lectures are 40 minutes in total. Please aim for 35 minutes for the lecture and 5 minutes for discussion.

When uploading, use a file name of the form 'plenary_surname.pdf' or 'plenary_surname.pptx' depending on format.
